What to Expect with Android in 2012

As you probably know, Google’s I/O Developer’s Conference is coming up this year. Google I/O is a conference where developers discuss developing for android and Google. Things like building web, mobile, and enterprise applications and also developing for Google’s technology like Android, Chrome OS, Google Web Toolkit, and more. This is usually a two day conference and was originally scheduled for the 24th and 25th of April, but was extended to a three day conference in June. The new dates for Google I/O is June 27th through the 29th. In this article I am going to discuss what you might expect to come from Android this year in 2012. Google’s Siri

Rumors have emerged about Google’s Siri competitor, Majel. Majel will be a virtual assistant that is very similar to that of Siri on the iPhone 4S. Majel will perform tasks such as manage calendars, tasks, send text messages/emails, and more.

Majel’s name comes from the Federation Computer from Star Trek, Majel Barrett-Roddenberry. Majel will be voice controlled like Siri, but will lack Siri’s “fun personality”. Google is aiming for an accurate, fast personal assistant to get work done, not to goof around. While Google already has a voice command system, Voice Actions, Majel will be its successor. Rumors have it that it will start off limited just to Google searches, but more functions will follow the release.
